The pottery
class was started by Lee Glicksman in 1974, who was assisted the
following year by Bill Herbies. In 1976, it was carried on by Jeff
Roth (Remember him?) Josh Taxman, and Peter Kaufman. In 1977, Taxman,
Kaufman, and Joey Pierce carried the load. Last years pottery
department was run by Kaufman and Pierce. This year it is being
headed by Joey and Brian Schlossberg.
With six wheels, one being electric, everybody has enough chance to
throw a pot. When done being thrown, they can be placed in the
camps own kiln.
There is also plenty of room for molding and glazing. With slip molds
you can make mugs, vases, and animals.
The Pot Shoppe use about 800 pounds of clay each summer, and about 35
gallons of slip for the molds.
