One of the most popular counselors in recent years has been Tony Searle. Tony, a scuba instructor from England, is one of the few foreign counselors to ever come back for more than one summer. Had it not been for an unfortunate set of circumstances, Tony would be back this year.

Each time a person comes to the United States from England, they must apply for a visa which allows them to tour the country. Tony though was different, as not only did he want to visit our country, he planned on working at Timberlane as well. In order for a foreigner to work in the U.S., they must also apply for a work permit from the government, and go thru tons of red tape. Having worked at TImberlane previously, Searle did not realize that he needed a new work permit.

So, last month when he arrived in the U.S. he was here legally, but not licensed to work. As he passed thru customs, they opened a piece of his luggage and found his contract to work at camp. After finding out that he had no work permit, he was flown back to England immediately.

As of now it is pretty certain that Tony will not be able to come to camp at all this summer. Though with Tony Searle, you can never be sure.
