First memories
- My first Timberlane memory was flying up to Rhinelander on
NorthCentral Airlines and having dozens of Timber-Campers
pressing their "call buttons" all the way there. Then riding
the yellow bus to camp with a deafening roar of Thunderation as
we hit the camp road... But what I remember most was walking
into the Pot-Shop and meeting Joey Pierce, who promptly
mispronounced my name and referred to me as "Jeff LiCHkin"...
Then Ed Fried referred to me as "Li-key"... and H kept looking
at the tag on my t-shirt to recall my name. Anyway that was 23
years ago and at 32, I am finally recovered from the trauma of
my early name identity crisis. But JP.. promise me.. just one
round of the "Engineer" song with my name in it... will

all summer. So, when they busted Meadow and Billy (I, of

Spend More, Save Less
- Loved the late night excursions to SMSL aka: Save More.
J Moss may recall prompting me to sneak into Gary's trailer
while he was crashed so we could nab the keys to the blue
station wagon and head to the store for late night sandwiches.
When we got halfway down the camp road we saw headlights
approaching from the other direction. We slowed down to
exchange late night greetings (it was about 1am) with, what we
thought were other counselors returning from their own
mischief, to discover the other car contained Mark & Sandy.
We ducked down as we drove by, but Mark stared us down with
that, "Who the hell is taking the camp car out at this hour?"
look. We then continued into town. Jeff said something to the
effect; "Well, we're already busted so we might as well make it
worth it". So we went to the store and loaded up on some major
nosh.
Needless to say, Mr Faiwell was not too happy with us the next
day. He chewed off a cheek from each of us and gave us some
crap work to do as a mild punishment. That's about all I
remember from the incident. Not sure what the punition was.

Heidi have put their heart & souls into this fine place,

UN/Pow Wow Memories
- The thought of JP and Marksie both running toward the Staff
Relay finish line brings to mind many UN/Pow Wow memories.
Probably another good subject. Can anyone recall the camper who
was assigned "cabin cleaning" as an activity, and who was the
team leader that thought he could get away with it?

Cabin Clean-up...
- It WOULD have come off without a hitch if it had not been
for Joey! (How DID you do that Joey?) Candidly, I'm having
great difficulty recalling the name of such UNathletic camper
in question. We took the 5 point penalty in stride. While we
finished a disappointing 3rd, we did manage to take ALL
"pre-tug" 10-pointers (including songs & cheers), but lost
our asses completely in both tugs. The year was 1980.

Omar the Dressmaker
- The most brutal joke I ever saw on Pow Wow/UN was when Rosy
told Beth Larson (who had a big crush on him) that he bought
her a dress and then threw a 6-man tent at her. It was my idea
and I never really wanted him to do it, but he insisted!....at
least that's my version now! I've been to the H. Hiken School
of Historical Modification for the Purposes of Better
Storytelling!

The Faiwell Year
- I win my 3rd Thailand victory in a row....won the Tug-a-War
to win the day, and Joey P changes his opinion on some event
with some problem kid named Mike something-or-other.
Anyway...Faiwell buys the BS--takes 2 points away from my team
and we lose. I think the event was fishing. Thats OK...I got a
lot of free gas for my car that summer. Plus, by the end of the
summer, they were calling No Class Carl Bass "Mr. Doner" at
SaveMore. What a summer that was....clearly the best to be a
counselor! CONFIRMED: I am picking Carl Bassewitz up in
Appleton on Thursday of the reunion. Lee, if all else fails
getting a ride back to Milwaukee...you can ride with me--though
wasn't planning on stopping in Milwaukee--I can always change
course if you are stranded in Northern Wisconsin.

Correcting John Marks....AGAIN!
- Marks writes: "I win my 3rd Thailand victory in a row" Just
to clarify Coach, you DID NOT win (I won't even go into the
grammar problems here). You don't "win" until the results are
official...just like when Randy Wynn found that the scores had
been added wrong. You might fool 'em in Deerfield, but don't
try spinning your crapola here, it won't fly.

- There seems to be a "Pud Impersonator" here. Sorry Coach,
but that wasn't me (I always identify myself). As you already
are aware, I'm an exceptional reader, so tend not to overlook
anything on this board. My prudent thinking tells me it
was...JOEY. He's never made significant appearance on this
board, but seemingly, he's finally figured out how to get
online. In the event that such a surmised appraisal of the
situation is not accurate, there is someone yet again who
doesn't read very carefully (they, too, are in need of remedial

1979
- I'm quite sure the year of the "Thailand Incident" was 1979
Puddy. I wasn't at camp that year and always wished I had been.
1980 was the year that I tripped on the minnows and stayed at
camp. Chad won U.N. day in blowouts in '80 and '81. Puddy you
are the master of cousins and brothers, but on this issue in a
word...your WRONG!

Clarification
- I agree with the 1979 designation (Thailand), Moss. I was
referring to the year 1980, the year in which my USA team was
penalized 5 pts for a very similar infraction (similar in the
respect that Joey caused it!) Although we don't resemble each
other, perhaps I was emulating my good colleague from
Wisconsin, Mr. Marks. I would think a major minnow experience
would be more than sufficient reason enough to make most
outdoor mind expansion enthusiasts spend their summer up
North.

offering the same promo in Indy, call them at once and tell

Hello, again, old friends
- Hey guys - I don't contribute much to this board but I do
enjoy the dialog. The trivia flies fast and furious. I mean, I
lived this stuff my whole life and don't remember a tenth of
the details you do. Either I couldn't appreciate the
significance (too close up to see perspective) or these details
occupy too much space in your minds (especially Pud's). I'm
really looking forward to seeing your old faces once again. By
